5 novel resolutions that can make a difference to your life

Do you set and forget new goals every year? You don’t have to wait for the new year to set new goals. Read on for a mindful, low-effort, high-impact approach to taking care of yourself from January through to December.

Give appreciation every day

Being kind to yourself and others costs nothing, but it can make you feel good. You never know who needs to hear something kind, so your compliment, words of encouragement or smile may go a long way to making their day too.

Make sleeping well a priority

We all know that getting a good night’s rest is incredibly important. Making little changes can go a long way to helping you have a better sleep every night. Maybe it’s time to finally invest in those new pillows you’ve been putting off buying. Or you could spend some time making your room darker or quieter. If you can, try putting your mobile out of arm’s reach so you’re not tempted to lie in bed scrolling when you’re trying to nod off.

Schedule some no-screen time

This is something we think about for children, but having screen-free time is just as important for adults, especially if you work in front of a computer all day. Consider making your phone off-limits for the first 30 minutes after you wake up, enforcing a phone-free lunchbreak each day or saying no screen time for an hour before bed.

Commit to cooking at home more often

Cooking at home can become a chore if you’re tired, busy or simply demotivated. But cooking your own food is generally more nutritious, healthy and economical than buying ready-made meals. And if you cook a bit extra, you can enjoy the leftovers – and we reckon that counts as cooking at home more times that week!

Promise yourself you won’t ignore health concerns

It’s easy to brush off or ignore health concerns – especially if they seem like they’re non-specific or not a big deal. But there’s never a wrong time to speak to a health professional if you’re not feeling at your best. For example, if you frequently feel more tired than you should, your doctor may decide to test you for iron deficiency. You can confidently choose Ferro-grad C® if your doctor diagnoses iron deficiency and recommends a therapeutic oral iron supplement. FGC-2021-0170. December 2021
